SUBMISSIONS
The Kootenay Gallery welcomes exhibition proposals from artists and curators. Completed applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year.
Please note: Emailed applications will not be accepted.
Mail or deliver your proposal to:
The Kootenay Gallery
120 Heritage Way, Castlegar, B.C. V1N 4M5
Proposals should include the following information and documentation:
1. a one-page artist statement describing the exhibition or body of work proposed (including the curatorial premise, if you are a curator);
2. CD-ROM/DVD, slides or photographs of the proposed work or works-in-progress and some indication of previous work. (Please provide adequate documentation for all images of works, ie. a list of titles, sizes, media, dates, etc.);
3. selected previous exhibition catalogues of artist’s work or curatorial writing (if any) and selected recent exhibition reviews (if any);
4. an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae; and
5. a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you wish your materials to be returned.
The Gallery is divided into two exhibition areas. (See Gallery plan.)
Exhibitions usually last between five and seven weeks and may occupy the whole Gallery or either of the two exhibition areas depending on the size of the proposed exhibition. Please indicate if you are interested in being considered for a solo or group exhibition.
The Kootenay Gallery presents an average of 8 exhibitions annually, but may receive up to 40 applications for these spaces. Each year we may present at least one historical exhibition (organized by a guest curator) and host traveling exhibitions of regional or national contemporary or historic works.
